How was THE KLYMA project born? The Klyma was born from the idea of Daniele Sorrentino (singer, musician and songwriter) and Tiberio Gracco (author and musician) to start a new project after several years of cover interpretations by artists such as Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, James Morrison, Tracy Chapman, Sam Smith, John Mayer … Many satisfactions for a project (called Young History) of published music including: over 200 events between public and private in about 2 years, over 20 million plays on streaming platforms and compliments from national and international artists . The idea of continuing to cover covers was beginning to become uninspiring, so after years, the idea of undertaking an ambitious project full of obstacles developed. The idea of writing unreleased songs was very stimulating, especially if the influences were the same as they had been carrying in their luggage for years.

Musical imprint of THE KLYMA The musical imprint of the project is constantly evolving, and this is demonstrated by the fact that all the songs, in the beginning, were in guitar and voice, or in piano and voice, therefore UNPLUGGED. The influence in the melodies is given by the artists who have marked the era covers of Daniele and Tiberio such as: John Mayer, Sam Smith, John Legend, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes … and many others. The first album has a bare character, poorly constructed, very free both at the musical level and at the level of lyrics. The clean sounds of acoustic guitars and pianos stand out, and from time to time we listen to some acoustic or electronic percussion, and some electric guitar. In the second album we have a complete transformation of the project, which while maintaining a pure identity, this is “dirtied” by oriental sounds, string quartets, samples, and sounds generated with objects. Much of this research derives from the passion that both components of the project (Daniele and Tiberio) have for the East, and in particular Japan. Tokyo is the emblem of the album, a mix of pop and Japanese culture, with sounds that emulate the instruments of that culture, and a blend of clean, dirty and trap voices (as we see in the finale). The message in a musical key is to bring a non-genre genre to Italy and the world, where every idea is put into action, then freed by a splendid violin solo in the final part of the song. Thanks go to Andrea Gargioni and Gennaro Franco, who are the actual arrangers of the album, but the contribution of Michele Vitiello (a young talent in the world of piano) and Angelo Iossa (who oversaw the vocal department) should not be forgotten. In the songs we are working on in addition to the guitars (main instrument) and the piano we have added a quartet of strings, percussion, drums and bass An evolution in writing and arrangements is clearly visible.

POLYCHROMES – Album “Your Dream”

POLYCHROMES – Album “Your Dream”

By Stephane Sassi & Isabelle Monferier

Cd Digital & Cd Physical

Label Plaza Mayor Company Ltd

HOW STATIC & BEN EL’S NEW SINGLE FITS WITH SABAN MUSIC GROUP’S STRATEGY OF ‘THINKING GLOBALLY’

Ambitious new global music group, Saban, continues to move through the gears with the release today (October 30) of the latest single by Static & Ben El – Shake Ya Boom Boom – in collaboration with Black Eyed Peas.

Static & Ben El were behind Further Up, the debut release on the Saban Music Group, which is backed to the tune of $500m by entertainment mogul Haim Saban.

That track, launched in January this year, has clocked up nearly 40 million views on YouTube and 80 million streams across various platforms, was No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart and hit the Top 10 on Vevo’s US chart.

Shake Ya Boom Boom is accompanied by a video shot in a vertical/smart-phone style with TikTok, YouTube, and Boomerang Instagram clips of Static & Ben El, as well as members of Black Eyed Peas and several influencers, all with a combined total reach of 50m fans on social media.

Here Gustavo Lopez, CEO of Saban Music Group, talks about the new track, the duo’s global potential, the impact of collaborations and the importance of laser focus…

Static & Ben El are established superstars in Israel, with international reach – their YouTube videos are approaching 600m combined views.

Haim Saban quickly recognized their worldwide potential and signed them.

Static & Ben El were signed prior to the formal launch of Saban Music Group and it can be said that they were one of the catalysts for its formation.

Static & Ben El were getting ready to go on tour in the states when COVID happened. So, instead they used the time to focus on making music. We didn’t want the pandemic to slow down the process of getting music out; we wanted to release Shake Ya Boom Boom as soon as possible, and our challenge was how to make a video during these times.

The guys got on a Zoom call to talk creative and will.i.am had the idea to shoot it remotely, and include 25 influencers.

As Static & Ben El continue to grow their fanbase outside of Israel, we have had the opportunity to collaborate with international superstars. They have been taking the right angle towards stardom, they have already collaborated with J Balvin, Pitbull, Flip Dinero and have more superstar collab surprises on the way.

SMG is a startup and from day one we said what makes us different is our approach and our 360/50/50 model. We will only sign a select number of artists so that our team can be laser-focused and committed to their success.

Our roster currently consists of mainstream as well as Latin artists, all with international appeal. We are aggressively recording and collaborating and working with some of the biggest artists in the world to help bring our artists to global audiences.

CHRISTOPHE KITTLER – Album “PLACES”

CHRISTOPHE KITTLER – Album “PLACES”

Des places et des musiques…

Label Plaza Mayor Company Ltd

“His magical songs have helped propel Ariana Grande into one of the most influential artists of her generation. This is a sensational set of songs and bear out why he’s just been voted Songwriter Of The Year for 2019.

WADESDA by Makuss Bonne featuring Larry Carlton A Tribute to Larry Carlton

MASKUSS BONE featuring LARRY CARTLON
Album “WADESDA”
Label Plaza Mayor Company Ltd
Distribution Sergent Major Company Ltd – The Orchard

OGGI 4UATTRO – La Dolce Vita

OGGI 4UATTRO – Album “La Dolce Vita”

Label Plaza Mayor Company Ltd

Distribution Sergent Major Company Ltd – The Orchard

L’album “LA DOLCE VITA” (THE SWEET LIFE)

ROB STRINGER TALKS SONY’S STRATEGY, TENCENT/UNIVERSAL… AND WHY MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN ‘2 MINUTES OF SOMEONE SNORING IN LAPLAND’

What’s Rob Stringer’s biggest challenge as leader of Sony Music Group(and Sony Music Entertainment)? Well, it ain’t profit margin.

He made that abundantly clear at Goldman Sachs’ Communacopia conference in New York last Thursday (September 19), where he said: “At Sony, margin is really important and our margin [at Sony Music] is excellent. Are we perfect? Of course not, we have other areas to improve — but the margin is not an issue.”

(MBW analysis suggests that Sony Corp’s Music operation – encompassing records, publishing and ‘Visual Media & Platform’ – posted a $1,28bn , which only included a few months of ownership of EMI Music Publishing.)

So, if it’s not profit margin, what does Stringer see as the biggest test of Sony’s mettle in the years ahead? Speaking with Goldman analyst Lisa Yang, he indicated that, actually, it might be artists – as in, signing enough of them, while ensuring the quality of their output remains high across the board.

“The sheer volume of music that comes through the distribution platforms has increased greatly – there are 40,000 tracks added every single day,” said Stringer, referring to the oodles of recordings which are uploaded to Spotify every 24 hours.

“It would be obvious to anybody with common sense that we would need to up the number of tracks we potentially have ownership [on] or a partnership [with].”

“The [three major music] companies are not the same: yes, we all work in music, we all put out frontline repertoire, we’re all looking for hits… but we’re not the same in terms of structure and size. Our parent companies are very different.

“MARKET SHARE CAN BE BOUGHT FOR A CERTAIN PRICE.”

“[We have] different overhead structures, numbers of people [employed], different reasons for [prioritising either market share, profit or revenues]… Market share can be bought for a certain price.”

“Parent companies differ in their philosophies and strategies. We just bought EMI Music Publishing for over $4bn so that shows you Sony [Corp’s] commitment to the music market – I don’t think they would have done it otherwise.

“The value of [EMP] is [already] probably worth more [than $4bn]; people are buying [publishing] catalogs this year at multiples of 22 to 23X [EBITDA]. I think we got a pretty good deal in EMI, from the time we signed it at the turn of the decade to now.”

ON… WHY SONY PAID $200M TO BUY THE 50% IN THE ORCHARD IT DIDN’T ALREADY OWN IN 2015

“My predecessors and some of my team today bought 50% of The Orchard less than 10 years ago for $30m; we bought the second half for $200m, and it’s probably worth now – and I’ll be conservative – hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars as a section of our business.

“That was good timing; it was a necessary shift to where, as it turns out, the streaming model has gone. We have to be an aggregator for a lot more content. And The Orchard’s at the center of our strategy… with the huge number of labels [and artists] it distributes, it partially [tackles] the 40,000 tracks a day syndrome.

“Also, there is an upstream potential [for Orchard artists] with the major label structure we have. It works across two facets.”
